Unity people are encouraged to take a Spiritual Gifts workshop to help them discover where their joys and talents lie. You can also make an appointment with our Equipper Marion Brown to discuss where you would best be blessed and be a blessing to others in the Unity community. You may also refer to page 4 of any Unity newsletter for the name of the team leader for each specific ministry.

1. CTT (Communications Technology Team Ministry): Our technological team operates the sound booth, broadcasts services through the internet, designs and maintains our web site and translates our newsletter into a format for posting on the web. It's a great place to learn and experience the latest advances in technology.
   Includes Computers, Sound Board, Website.
   Spiritual Gifts: Administration, Creative Ability
   Talents might include Computer Skills, Marketing, Graphic Art.
2. Sunday Service Teams Ministry: “Chapters and Verse” Unity’s bookstore (Merchandise and service); The F.R.O.G. Pond – Unity’s Lending Library (catalog and organize); Fellowship (Kitchen services); Greeters (Welcoming at door); Ushers (Welcoming at sanctuary); and a new Welcome Team (following the service)
   Spiritual Service Gifts: Helps, Service, Hospitality, Administration.
   Talents might include people skills, friendly attitude.
3. Maintenance Ministry: The premises invite tender loving care in all seasons and especially in the sunny months. People step forward to plant flowers, maintain our gardens, and repair the outside when necessary. Many hands make light work. Whether we are renovating or maintaining, there are opportunities to fix whatever needs to be fixed, take garbage to the dump, clean out clutter, change light bulbs, join in fall or spring cleaning, whatever it takes to make our spiritual home a beautiful and comfortable place to be.
   Maintenance; Gardens; Electrical; Plumbing; Painting; Recycling, Refuse.
   Spiritual Service Gifts: such as Help, Serving, Giving.
   Talents include any of the trades and handyman skills.
4. Office: This ministry augments our part time administration staff, people come in to help in crunch times, getting our newsletter distributed, organizing the sanctuary for Sunday, getting ready for holiday services.
   Spiritual Service Gifts: such as administration, helps, service.
   Talents: Office skills, organizational joy.
5. Prayer Ministry: There are a number of prayer ministries to support others through prayer, visitations, cards, letters, phone calls. Training is available. Wellness Call Prayer Chaplains; Silent Prayer Team; VIP (Visiting Important People) Team; High Watch Prayer Team; and a new team which will make hospital visits.
   Spiritual Gifts: Prayer Gifts such as intercession, mercy, healing.
   Talents: Strong faith in the power of prayer, enjoyment of people, personal commitment to holding the high watch for others.
6. Youth Education: Unity co-founder Myrtle Fillmore asked the question "Who will teach the children?" There are some wonderful individuals who have been moved to step forward. Ideally our teachers rotate regularly to insure that the children have some continuity in their program and that the teachers can still enjoy services on a regular basis. Unitots (2-5 years); Children’s Church (5 – 9 years); Uniteens (9 – 13 years); and Y.O.U. (14-19 years) which needs to be developed.
   Spiritual Equipping Gifts: Teachings, Leadership & Creative Ability.
   Talents: teaching skills, story telling, crafts, love of children.
7. Marketing: Help to get the word out about special events, speakers, classes. This could be anything from designing brochures, to faxing newspapers, to making phone calls or distributing flyers. Your chance to be creative. This is an area to be developed – including press releases, marketing events, overall marketing coordination, production of the monthly newsletter, etc.
   Spiritual gifts: evANGELism, Leadership.
   Talents: marketing skills, enthusiasm for Unity events.
8. Social: This is an area of opportunity to plan social events for the congregation. Nothing is more fun than having fun! Different groups of people plan special events which provide an opportunity to enjoy each other's company - talent Shows, movies and, of course, church potluck dinners. It's an open-ended list.
   Unity’s Famous Players – a ministry dedicated to the arts – drama, reader’s theatre, children’s productions, adult productions - ready to be developed.
   Spiritual Gifts: Creative Ability.
   Talents: Writing, Acting, Scenery, Costumes.
9. Love Offering Counting Team: Sundays.
   Spiritual Gift – administration.
   Talents: accuracy with numbers.
10. Green Team: This ministry focuses on keep Unity as ecologically friendly as possible and educating others about good living practices.
    Spiritual Gifts: Equipping gifts such as evANGELism, Leadership, Teaching, Encouragement.
    Talents: inner commitment to being “green”.
11. Unity’s Board of Directors: These 6 individuals are elected for a three years term during our Annual General Meeting each February. Besides the functions detailed in our ByLaws, these individuals are instrumental in holding the consciousness for our Centre and the vision for the future. Board members are selected by a committee comprised of the minister, one current board member, a church member elected by the congregation. These three people chose a 4th person to chair the team.
    Spiritual Equipping Gifts: Leadership, Encouragements plus Administration.
    Talents: The board is ideally comprised of a variety of talent to meet the current needs of the community. This varies from year to year depending on the direction of the church. All board members ultimately serve by divine appointment.
12. The Music Team: participation in our music team is through auditions. However, everyone is invited to share their musical talents at the annual Valentine’s Coffee House and Talent Show.
    Spiritual Gifts: Creative ability.
    Talents: Vocalist, Instrumentalists, Composer, Arranger, Choir Director.
13. Special Outreach Events: Our congregation has diverse interests. From time to time, a congregant will champion a special event to benefit others. In the past we have supported the Waterloo Region Food Drive, Operation Christmas Child, Pet Blessing Day, Heal Your Body Day, Habitat for Humanity.
